The return of the original investment is not dependent on the performance of the Index however, but is subject to the counterparty being able to meet its liabilities. The counterparty is the Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc, which has a long term credit rating of 'A+' with Standard and Poor's (at 02 March 2010).

5 year two week investment linked to the performance of the Hang Seng China Enterprise Index ('HSCEI') and the iShares MSCI Brazil Index Fund ('iShares Brazil Index'). The Plan has the potential to mature early on any of the first 4 Plan anniversary dates. If both indices are at or above their respective Opening Levels on any annual measurement date, the Plan will mature providing a full repayment of capital plus a growth payment of 12% for each year the capital has been invested. Capital is returned in full providing the Final Level of each Index has not fallen by more than 40% below their respective Opening Levels. The counterparty is Rabobank, which has a long term credit rating of 'AAA' with Standard and Poor's (at 5 March 2010).

A 6 year investment with the potential to pay out early, dependent on the performance of the FTSE 100 Index ('the Index'). It will provide a growth payment of 8% (not compounded) for each year the capital is invested provided the Index is at or above its Opening Level on any anniversary. Capital is protected provided the Index does not close more than 50% below its Opening Level during the investment term. The counterparty is BNP Paribas, which has a long term credit rating of 'AA' with Standard and Poor's (at 2nd March 2010).
